What color and kind of green do you actually need? I've done some experimenting and you basically need any kind of green, dark green, lime green, neon green and it can be card board, paper, fabric even green bed sheets. Just make sure it is smooth enough (not graded like the cardboard I had) to take light evenly without casting any shadows. You can of course use a blue screen or any other color as long as the subject is not wearing the same color. In this video I show you how to make a $6 green screen (6 sheets at 99 cents each and they are 22in x 28in each). I got it at Michael's arts and crafts store but you can get these anywhere like Target (69 cents ea), Walmart, Dollar Store, etc. Florescent Green poster board: 🤍 Wondershare Filmora video editor download: 🤍 It works just as good or better than the actual Muslin - Green Chromakey 6 x 10 feet Backdrop i had in this video: 🤍 If you are looking to use the green screen against one wall just get the poster boards. I actually purchased like 3 muslin green screens all different sizes and slightly different colors just to experiment. Now looking back i would have rather just used green poster boards and taped it in my entire room then get the muslin fabric. Because i want the green flush against my wall the fabric is a pain to tack in and try to get it smooth as possible. The poster boards are already super smooth just need to tape it up against the wall and your ready to go. Also I like the florescent neon green poster board cause it just brightens up my room too. You can buy green poster boards and tape it to your wall, you can paint your wall green, you can buy green fabric and tack, nail or tape it against you wall. Of course you can buy a support stand but you can also use like a cloths rack, shoe rack, white board with wheels, or actual curtain rods to hang the fabric. FYI.. So it's better to take your time with the setup and lighting than to try and fix it in post. There are different ways to set up a professional green key studio, if you have the means you can go for professional gear. But in this tutorial we are showing you the DIY low budget way to achieve the wanted setup. If you are creative and a little handy, creating things yourself has of course the financial advantage. An example for a famous DIY project is the camera slider made by Film Riot. In our DIY project, we used household tools we found in the garage. For lighting we also used the cheapest option to stay within the low budget theme. But again, use whatever you can find not every household has the same tools. Green is the most used color for Chroma key, but what if your talent is wearing green? To avoid that you key out parts of your talent, you can choose the other color used for chroma key, blue. These two colors are used because they differ most from the human skin tone colors. But green is favored and more used, because digital cameras are more sensitive to green light and will give a better result. In this tutorial we create a more mobile setup that you can easily move or dismantle if needed. But if you have the room and the means, you can always opt to create a permanent green screen studio like we build at our work space. If you are going for a permanent studio, there is also the option to use Chroma color paint which is the alternative for a fabric and commonly used by larger production houses. TL;DR: Use hue vs. hue. Davinci Resolve also has Hue vs. Hue! Photoshop can also do this. The hue/saturation panel has an eyedropper/color picker! Then you can adjust what colors are affected, and use the sliders to change the hue, saturation, and lightness. I don't know if Vegas Pro has Hue vs. Hue. (Maybe use an HSL key instead?) I couldn't find steps for removing a green screen with no cropping using DaVinci Resolve and the 3D Keyer. Eventually, I realized that I could do it all in the color tab. This made it super easy. I hope this helps.
